Bacon advises the young persons who are busy in their studies to keep in mind a few things. They should not use their studies to contradict or come into clash with other person’s point of view. They should also not take for granted what they read. They should test their information and then believe it. Similarly, they should not use their knowledge merely for conversation. But a proper thing would be to read a book to weigh and consider. Then he should reach his conclusion on the basis of experience.

Bacon believes that studies are very useful in giving man pleasure, ornament and ability. A reader should not take for granted what others say. He should try to judge the sayings of others by his own understanding of life. The information should be first tested and then accepted. He should not make a show of his studies. Bacon emphasises that it is very important to know which books should be read. Some books are to be read in parts only, some books should be read hastily and quickly. But there are some books which are to be read thoroughly and closely. They should be read by grasping the meaning fully and deeply.

Study of different subjects have their impact on the personality on man in different ways. Study of study makes a man wise. A man learns the mistakes committed in that period and learns from these mistakes of the past. The study of poetry makes man imaginative. Study of mathematics develops refinement of human nature. Philosophy makes man deep. man learns to go deep into his subject by the study of philosophy. In the same way logic and rhetoric develop debating and oratorical skill of man. thus we find Bacon’s advice concerning ‘Studies’ useful.
