Michael Jackson Biography and Works.

Referred to as the ‘King of Pop’, American superstar Michael Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana, on August 29, 1958.

Popularly known as MJ, Jackson is recognized as the most successful entertainer of all time by the ‘Guinness World Records’.

Michael Jackson started his career as a singer along with his brothers as a member of The Jackson 5′. Soon he became a well-known figure in the music industry due to his mature dance moves and voice.

The five brothers, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Michael and Marlon gave many chart-busting hits including ‘I Want You Back’, ‘Never Can Say Goodbye”, ‘Got to Be There’ and many others.

He started his inevitable solo career in 1971. He uneasily ventured into films like “The Wiz’ in 1978 but was more successful with his music videos.

Michael had two brief marriages. In May 1994, Jackson married Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley and they got divorced in less than two years of their marriage.

Jackson, then, got married to his long-time friend, Deborah Jeanne Rowe. They had two children – Michael Joseph Jackson Jr (commonly known as Prince) and Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson. The couple divorced in 1999 and Jackson got full custody of the children.

Jackson’s life has been full of controversies. He was accused of child sexual abuse in 1993 but the case was settled out of court. In 2005, he was tried and acquitted of other sexual abuse allegations after the jury ruled him not guilty.

For all it to end, he died of drug-induced cardiac arrest on June 25, 2009 when he was preparing for his concert in London.

His 1982 album, Thriller’ is the biggest selling album of all time with confirmed sales of over 47 million, and over an estimated 100 million copies worldwide.
