Claude Monte Biography and Works.

Claude Monte is one of the most famous painters known in history. Claude Monet’s painting Impression: Sunrise’ brought a new trend termed ‘Impressionism’. His paintings have been a source of inspiration for many since then.

The unusual loose brushstrokes used in his painting, ‘Impression: Sunrise displayed at an exhibition earned the title of being ‘Impressionistic’. This term was coined by the critics for a technique quite different from what the Renaissance painters used then.

Monet was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris to a grocer Claude Adolphe and Louise Justine Aubree, a singer.

While Adolphe was disappointed from Monet’s decision to become an artist, Monet’s mother supported him. Monet’s father wanted him to become a grocer like him.

Monet developed a love for drawing at an early age. His passion found a new direction when he met Eugene Boudin, who taught him new techniques of painting with oil paints.

Monet married Camille Doncieux and had a son from her. In 1876, Camille suffered tuberculosis and died on September 5, 1879.

Monet paid a tribute to Camille by painting her during her last days. Grief-stricken after his wife’s death, he kept painting masterpieces like his water lilies in his garden. He died on December 5, 1926 in Giverny.

Monet found pleasure in painting things as they were. He painted landscapes seen in different lights. His famous paintings, such as Haystacks and Rouen Cathedral are examples of such masterpieces.

Trivia

Monet developed cataract and underwent a surgery. Though it affected his eyesight, it did not stop him from adjusting the colours on his paintings.
