Leonardo Da Vinci Biography and Works.

Most people are known for mastering a specific field. But, such is not the case with Leonardo Da Vinci. He was a curious soul. His curiosity led him to explore everything that he came across. As a result, he was an expert in many fields unlike anyone before or after him.

Leonardo was born on April 15, 1452 in Anchiano, Republic of Florence (now in Italy). His father was a landlord and mother was a peasant woman.

Gradually recognizing Leonardo’s hidden artistic talent, his father introduced him to the renowned artist, Andrea del Verrocchio. Leonardo received training of painting, sculpting and mechanical arts. He got admitted into the painters’ guild of Florence in 1472 as his artistic abilities flourished.

He continued learning at the workshop for five years after which he worked independently. He died on May 2, 1519 in Cloux, France.

Leonardo is known for his famous paintings – The Last Supper, The Mona Lisa and The Vitruvian Man: The Proportions of the Human Figure.

Besides being known as a painter, he is known as a sculptor, an architect, a scientist and an engineer. To name a few, he had also explored areas like Anatomy, Geology, Botany and Archaeology.

He had explained the fundamental theory of evolution, hundreds of years before Darwin and also of a flying machine. Many inventions and discoveries made after him seem to have been drawn from such fundamental theories of Leonardo.
