Naseeruddin Shah Biography and Works.

Born on July 20, 1950, Naseeruddin Shah is a Bollywood film actor and director. Shah did his schooling at St. Anselm’s, Ajmer and St. Joseph’s College in Nainital. After his graduation, he attended the National School of Drama (NSD) in Delhi.

Naseeruddin Shah has been successful in both the mainstream and parallel cinema.

Shah has acted in movie like Aakrosh, Nishant, Sparsh, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Ata Hai, Mirch Masala, Trikal, Bhavni Bhavai, Junoon, Mandi, Ardh Satya, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and many more.

Naseeruddin Shah was earlier married to Surekha Sikri’s sister, who was a doctor working in Iran. He married actress Ratna Pathak after the demise of Sikri’s sister. He has three children – a daughter, Heeba from his earlier marriage and two sons, Imaad and Irhaan from Ratna Pathak Shah.

He also starred in many international films, most notably playing the character of Captain Nemo in the Hollywood comic book adaptation, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen in 2003.

Naseeruddin Shah has been giving performances with his theatre troupe in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Lahore. He has directed plays written by Lavender Kumar, Ismat Chughtai and Saadat Hasan Manto. His directorial debut in Bollywood was Yun Hota To Kya Hota in 2006.

He made his Pakistani film debut with the critically acclaimed and controversial film Khuda Ke Liye, where he also played a cameo.

More recently, he has worked in films like Maqbool, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Ishqiya, Omkara and many more.

Naseeruddin Shahis characterized by seamless and gripping performances in cinema and theatre for over thirty years now.

Trivia

His elder brother Lt General Zameeruddin Shah was in the Indian Army.
