He can. of course, continue his work with us but I would like to take complete charge of the accounts of your firm.

I am extremely sorry for not writing to you for a long time as I was busy in preparing for the examination. I hope to see you all soon.

Dear father,

Hope this finds you in the best of health and spirits. I haven’t heard anything from you since I came here.

I am glad to inform you that I have got admission in Vaish Hostel situated near Raja Mandi crossing. The hostel is situated in the heart of the city and has a fine building. The Toomes of the hostel are clean, spacious and tidy.

I am allotted a double seated room. My room partner is Mr. Dheeraj Singh. He is very nice fellow and belongs to a well cultured family. He is very considerate to me. By now I have fully adjusted with other students in the hostel. In the beginning. I did not like their jokes because of my shyness. Bot now I feel quite at home with them.

The food served to us at the hostel is tolerable. There is a good arrangement of breakfast and evening tea. I do not feel any difficulty regarding my food.

There is adequate arrangement of games in the hostel. I play badminton in the evening. Our warden takes every care to provide every possible facility to all hostellers.

On the whole, my life here is quite comfortable. You need not worry about me.

Your father happened to be at our place last evening. I heard from him that you are in a mood to settle down in life after passing the Intermediate examination. He also told me that you don’t want to continue your study.

Well, my friend, the choice is entirely yours. Still, I feel I need to give my views to you in this regard, as I have been knowing you intimately for years. I know you are a man of wider outlook than any of us and yet you have decided to leg behind all your friends who intend to complete their university education in another three years. It is good to settle in life early but may I suggest you that you could do this even after completing your graduation as well.

An educated man can certainly do well in life. It you are in a mood to join your father in his business, there, too, you could be in a better position to help him after graduation. Fortunately you have better opportunities to study further.

If you give a serious thought to my views. I am sure you’ll certainly change your decision in favour of studying further.

Dear sir,

You might feel a little surprised to see this letter of mine but I could find none but you to seek a proper guidance in the selection of a career. As you have always been very much kind to me, I am sure you’ll not disappoint me this time.

This year I appeared at M.A. Final examination in Economics and expect good percentage of marks. I have no plan of studying further, and intend sincerely to follow a profession, but choice of a good profession is really a perplexing problem which requires a lot of diligence and serious thinking.

As there are various professions which allure young men like me, I am really baffled and hanging in balance. Sometimes I think to be an executive in some private business organization, but there is much exploitation in private sector. Some of my friends suggest me to appear at the competitive examination. But there too, I do not find anything exciting. The life of an officer appears to me dull and monotonous. To settle down as a businessman also does not suit my temperament because the life of a businessman revolves all the time round getting and spending.

I have also been a lover of knowledge. Endless pursuit of knowledge is the life blood of my mind. Teaching profession gives me ample scope for endless pursuit of knowledge. A professor has ample opportunity to carry on his intellectual pursuits. Therefore, I wish to adopt your profession.

I shall, therefore, feel highly glad if you kindly extend your valuable advice in this regard at the earliest to enable me to come to some fruitful decision.
