1. Write a letter to the Editor, the Hindustan Times, explaining your views on the disillusionment among the youth in India.

To,

   The Editor,

   The Hindustan Times,

   New Delhi.

Sir,

Indian youth today, stands disillusioned. Our universities have become fields of politics, anarchy and violence. Slightest provocations create scenes of violent demonstrations. Nation-wide corruptions, mal administration, nepotism, hungry race of power. bombastic but hollow economic plans-all these are in fact behind the discontentment of youth.

Today, we have reached a very crucial point from where no return seems possible. The condition is worsening day by day. People who occupy, important seats of power. who can influence public opinion and conduct, who control events, are openly indulging in disgraceful ways of behaviour. They don’t hesitate in shamelessly defying moral and social standards. When adults behave in this way, how dare they impeach and condemn youth ?

The disillusionment among the youth in India is quite natural. In the present prevailing social disorder, anyone can be disillusioned. What is needed is not a criticism but setting up of good examples providing opportunities for doing and thinking good. Problems like unemployment and overcrowding are, of course, not easily soluble. Other problems are in the form of minor irritants. All these problems can be dealt with if situation is tactfully handled with firmness.

Our youth is a staunch supporter of peace and order. The disorder created by them is not due to any intrinsic fault in them but it is due to misguidance. Some political parties use them for their vested interests. Nothing intrinsically is wrong with the youth of today. who for no fault of theirs, are born in an age of declining values and dwindling morality.

2. Write a letter to the Editor, ‘Youth Times’, New Delhi, about the need of educational reform in India.

To,

   The Editor,

   Youth Times,

   New Delhi-1.

Sir,

The deteriorated offshoots of our out of the date education have brought the affairs to a point of no-return. Our educational system is largely responsible for many social problems which have, in fact, endangered solidarity of the nation.

The number of students in the universities has been increasing with the result that they are to cope with the multiplying problems. Moreover a number of students seeking admission to the universities are not really fit to benefit by a course of university education. The presence of such students leads to wastage of funds and energy and also lowering of the standards.

Indian education tends towards easy academic students. Irregular class hours, over crowded colleges and many other ills have deprived the youth of the vitality of vigorous academic life. Our education has given neither the mental discipline nor character.

Moreover, teachers lack the necessary psychological approach towards the receptive minds of the young students. A majority of them are ill equipped to train students.” Besides this, our educational policies are not sound and practical. Only a few people in the field are really concerned or even capable of coping with existing educational problems.

Our education, therefore, needs drastic reforms. If it is ignored any further, the country will certainly meet her doom. The crisis of educational world is alarming in India. India needs immediate solution. Any delay will worsen the situation all the more.

3. Write a letter to the Editor, ‘Amar Ujala’ requesting the V.C. Agra University for early publication of B.A. Final result.

To,

   The Editor,

   The Daily Amar Ujala,

   Agra.

Sir,

Our B. A. II examinations were held in the month of June. When all other universities have almost declared their results, we are still cropping in dark. In the absence of our results our future seems to be dwindling between extremes of uncertainty. In this month of August admissions are going on in other universities. Many of us may have to join other universities and it is impossible to get an admission in university till our results are not out. The university authorities seem to be apathetic towards the problems of the students.

I want to draw the attention of the Vice-Chancellor towards the need of saving the students from frustration and discontentment by publishing their results immediately.

4. Write a letter to the Editor, Amar Ujala’, drawing the attention of authorities towards the increasing radio nuisance in the city.

To,

   The Editor,

   Amar Ujala,

   Agra.

Sir,

In the market of the city, radio sets are on at full volume right from early morning till late in the night. It affects the sleep of the citizens and the studies of students, especially during the examination period. It is high time the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting should carefully consider these things while issuing licence to such people. In these modern days, radio sets are generally available at all houses with average income and such high volume of radio at shops does not serve any commercial purpose. It is nothing but nuisance and it needs to be stopped.

The approach to the police authorities has not served any useful purpose. Therefore something should be done by the radio licence issuing authorities.

5. Write a letter to the Editor ‘The Hindustan’, giving your views about the railway strike.

To,

   The Editor,

   The Hindustan Times,

   New Delhi-1.

Sir,

The threatened All India railway strike at a time when our country’s economy is passing through one of its worst phases, is unfortunate. Instead of re-examining the grievances of railway-men, the Government has taken a hard attitude as if it is prepared to have a show down with railway men. By yielding to undesirable and selfishness why should they make their own countrymen suffer? It is rather unfortunate on the part of those who are being looked upon by us as champions of people’s cause.

I suggest railway men should have increased their working hours by two hours daily to serve the country in a better manner and any democratic government would have felt obliged to help redress their grievances.
