David Beckham’s full name is David Robert Joseph Beckham. He was born on May 2, 1975 in London, England to David Edward Beckham and Sandra Georgina.

David’s love for football started because of his parents who were die-hard fans of Manchester United and the Red Devils. As a kid, he used to spend his time playing football and dreamed of becoming a footballer. He used to play for a local football team called the Ridgeway Rovers.

For his early education, David went to Chase Lane Primary School and then attended Chingford County High School. He used to participate in many school sports but mainly focused on his goal of becoming a footballer. David gave many trials at football clubs like Norwich City and Leyton Orient before he was selected at the Tottenham Hotspur football club. At the age of eleven, he won the Bobby Charlton Soccer Schools National Skills Competition. David was only sixteen when he was selected to play for Manchester United’s training division.

Two years later he was officially a part of the club and by 1995 he was playing full-time. Beckham was a big part of Manchester United’s wins in the FA Premier League, especially in conquering The Treble of the League.

Beckham is best known for his stint with Manchester United. He played for eight seasons with the team and led them to new heights. In 1999, he played in three major games and led Manchester United to victory. These were the Premier League, the FA CUP and the UEFA Champions League called ‘The Treble’.

Beckham has won six Premier League medals. The year 1998 was a slightly shaky one for Beckham while he played for England in the World Cup. England was removed from the tournament due to penalties in round sixteen. The team was criticized by both fans and the media. The same continued in the 2000 European Championships as England was eliminated in the first round. Beckham became the team captain of the England national team in 2000. He scored the last goal in a World Cup qualifier against Greece, sending the team into the main tournament. Beckham has played for England 117 times and scored 17 goals.

In 2003, Beckham changed teams from Manchester United to Real Madrid, and played for them for the next four years. He scored thirteen goals in that duration. He was a part of the ‘Galacticos’, the team with the best players in the world, like Ronaldo, Luis Figo and Roberto Carlos.

In 2007, he moved to the American team LA Galaxy and played with them for five years. It was a major move in Beckham’s career when he changed teams. However, after he moved to the U.S., he started to get injured frequently. He sprained his knee ligament in the first season and later had a tendon injury due to which he couldn’t participate in the 2010 World Cup.

In 2013, he won a title in the Paris Saint Germain in the French league. He signed a 5-month contract with the team and donated all the money to charity. After he’d played for 21 years, Beckham announced his retirement.

Apart from his football career he is also known as a style icon and has done many commercials. In 1998, he earned $13 million in endorsements alone. In 2003, he signed a $160 million lifetime contract with Adidas. He had a ten-year long collaboration with Pepsi Co. (till 2009) and has done promotions for the Walt Disney Company theme parks.

David’s personal life also influenced him to branch out into other professions. He married the former Spice Girls band member, Victoria Adams on July 4, 1999. The couple has four children. Beckham and his wife are famous as fashion icons. They’ve also worked as spokespersons for clothing designers, health and fitness specialists, fashion magazines, perfume and cosmetics manufacturers and hair stylists.
